MetaParser
Metadata FAQ

Questions and Answers

A quick guide to what MetaParser checks, when to use URL or HTML mode, and what the preview edits actually change.

What is MetaParser?

MetaParser is a free metadata preview tool for checking how a public URL appears in Google search results, Open Graph link shares, Slack, LinkedIn, Facebook, and X.

Do I need an account?

No. Paste a URL or a page's HTML, preview the metadata, and edit the title, description, or image locally in the browser.

Can I preview a site before it is deployed?

Yes. Switch to HTML mode and paste the page head markup to preview metadata from a local build, staging branch, or draft page without making it public.

Does MetaParser change my website metadata?

No. Edits are temporary preview changes only. Use them to compare title, description, and share image ideas before updating your own site.

Is MetaParser open source?

Yes. The site is built on the open-source metaparser package and links to the project source and npm package.
